Parks & Nature

Taughannock falls is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River - not a sight to miss. You can park at the bottom (off rt. 89) and do the short, easy walk up to the base of the falls, or park at the top and see the falls from the viewpoint at the top. For a longer hike, there are rim trails that go around the gorge. And don't miss the big swimming beach on the lake to cool off when you're done!

This is our favorite swimming area around! You can swim in the large pool at the bottom of a cascading waterfall (complete with lifeguards and diving board). There is also a great hike (4 mile round trip) up the gorge and back. Or, if you don't feel like doing the whole hike, you can drive to the upper entrance of the park and do a shorter walk down to the stunning views of Lucifer Falls!
