One of the last Royalist castles to fall after being sieged during the English Civil War, the garrison was allowed to march out with its banners held high. The castle is now part of English Heritage.

The best beach in Falmouth with watersports, a great cafe, safe swimming, and soft sand. It gets packed in the summer so go early.

Swanpool is just a nice area to walk around with the kids. Take some bread to feed the swans (at a distance) but the ducks are quite tame and will come up to you for some good photo opportunities!

Another nice beach in Falmouth, with watersports, a bouncy castle, crazy golf, safe swimming. The sand's not as nice as on Gyllyngvase Beach, but it's still pleasant.

Great aerial view over a working dry dock if you're into photographing ships. It's also got a good panoramic view of Falmouth, and you can see our house from here.

A Falmouth landmark, this was built by an individual in the 1900s who lived at the top and owned a shop at the bottom. 111 steps will see how fit you are, and there's a pub at the top to celebrate!

It's got a great view of the sea and the nearby coastline. There's always an ice cream van here, and you can continue your walk around Castle Drive to take in all the beaches.

A multiplex cinema with six screens showing the latest films. Interesting trivia fact - World War Z was partly filmed in Falmouth. If you look carefully I'm in the ops room scene on the US Navy ship!
