One can sit and hang with friends, eat a meal, or dance to live music. We're not much of night scenekinda people, but this one is worth the late night!

Parks & Nature

You will be stunned. This is a perfect place for family walks, romantic meal on the lawn, wandering around the ponds, taking a jog or studying exquisite botany. It's also a wonderful place for group, tourist or family photos. Though one pays $2 per hour for parking (if driving), the park itself is free and oh-so-lovely.

Well, it's not really "hiking." The Wall, named after the African American gentleman who founded our neighborhood, is simply the wall around the Duke East campus. There are always folks of all kinds walking, running or playing on the broad, well lit, easy to walk path, which encircles the whole perimeter of Duke East.

Arts & Culture

There is a rich African American culture here in Durham. We even have claim to the first African American woman priest, who was an amazing attorney, activist and feminist. Pauli Murray's home is now a local historic site and one can see murals up around town of her.
