The beautiful Corona Del Mar State Beach is just down Goldenrod Avenue, over the footbridge to the Ocean, and a block to the left. It is a stunning beach, with surprisingly upscale food service. On the far end of the beach is a wonderful tide pool area. On the right is a jetty, next to the entrance to Newport Harbor, where you can stroll and usually see fish and often seals. Beach chairs, boogie boards, a surfboard, sand toys and a beach umbrella in the garage are for your use.

A five minute drive south, it is so beautiful and uncrowded, even in summer. You can walk the beach for miles. The Beachcomber is a charming restaurant right on the sand.

You can follow this with a ferry ride to the Balboa Fun Zone, complete with ferris wheel, merry go round,bumper cars and an arcade. Next to the harbor with the beach two blocks away. Makes for a charming day!
