Food Scene

Great brewery and cafe. I recommend the 40 Days and 40 Nights American IPA as well as the Amandus if you enjoy Golden Ales. They brew great coffee and offer a wide selection. They serve Tacos and Tortas for all meals. While the menu may be limited, the items they serve are well prepared.

Delicious breakfast Burritos. They serve all of their items in a variety of Tacos, Burritos, or a plate. But stick with the burrito, just trust me there. For maximum happiness, get the Chicon. If you need a little boost in the morning, order an Ojo Rojo and you won't be disappointed.

Northern Thai. If you like spicy, asian fusion. This is your spot. I tend to stick with the first option on the menu, but you cannot go wrong with anything.

This is a food truck tucked in the back of the Liberty Bar. You don't need to order at the bar to eat here, but they have a decent tap and can selection and a full bar as well. As for the food, Brussel Sprouts, Thai Chicken Karage, and Por Qui Buns. All are delicious, none are too spicy, although you can ask them to remove jalapeños from the first two dishes if you do not enjoy any spice. After completion of your meal, you do not need to text me to thank me, I am just happy another person was able to experience it's greatness.

Cofee within walking distance. My second favorite cappuccino in town. They also do horchata with a double shot of espresso. Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a sweeter take on your morning fuel.

Parks & Nature

A wonderful trail. 2.75 miles one direction, although you will likely double back to get to your vehicle. The trail is well shaded and has over 5000 stairs built into it. The half way point elevates for a view of the area, which includes the Colorado river.

A short course that is well maintained. Is playable for all skill levels and includes great views of downtown Austin. If you enjoy disc golf, I recommend playing this course for a quick round while you're in town.

Drinks & Nightlife

This bar is within walking distance and has everything I loved about the east side of Austin all packed into one place. A solid selection of canned and bottled local craft beer as well as a few on tap. Reasonably priced mixed drinks that are crafted by experts of the trade and just a hint of the pride that comes along with being good at what you do. Most nights of the week you can catch live music from a local band and most nights you are going to enjoy the show. The patio is a great place to socialize with a large group and the food truck, Toaster, will hit the spot when the drunk munchies kick in.

Finely crafted cocktails, vibrant scene that changes composition as you walk through the main bar, the patio bar, and outside. Thursday through Saturday night, the upstairs Mezcal bar is an experience all it's own. With a south american vibe, enjoy the various types of what is known as the scotch of tequila. Ask the bartender for a recommendation as well as the backstory on Mezcal. It's an enjoyable experience if you have not tried Mezcal before.

Everything Else

Within walking distance. Decent selection for essentials, with a surcharge for convenience. Also serves beer and coffee, while housing one of the best BBQ joints in Austin. La Barbecue. If you have the time or stop by without a line for the BBQ, get some of the sliced brisket. It's a close second for my favorite brisket in town, right after Franklins.
