Take away restaurant but you can also enjoy your food on the site. It is nice and friendly. The food is, as the name indicate, inspired by Indien food. The adress is: Armula 21, 108 Reykjavik and it is a 15 minutes walk.

This mountain is 20 minutes away by car and there are buses out there too. If you are in good condition this is a brilliant morning hike. It takes about 1 hour to go up there (and you will sweat) an 40 minutes down. Plus/minus. Many sports men use this mountain for training. Nice view, even if you do not make it to the top. Always take the weather into consideration.

Arts & Culture

This museum is named after Johannes Kjarval, one of Iceland´s most famous painters. The museum often have guided tours in English. They have a great selection of the work done by Kjarval and other Icelandic artists. The location is not so far from my house.

Here you can - in the summertime - experience Reykjavik in the past. Many of Reykjaviks old houses have been moved up here. There are often some exhibitions and there is a shop selling thing from the old days. It is a very nice activity for half a day. Icelanders like to go here and educate their children or just to re-live the old days.

Shopping

A good, high end shopping center with almost anything. There is also a supermarket (Hagkaup) and you can by alcohol in the wine shop. There is a food court and a few restaurants and coffee shops. And a cinema.

Entertainment & Activities

I really recommend going to this outdoor swimming pool with hot tubs. Icelanders spend a lot of time in the pools, not everybody swims, but most people sit in the hot tub and talk about everything and nothing. It is nice and clean and they have a high standard in the dressing rooms. Be sure to go there one of the first days because you might want to come back. It opens early and close late. AND if you think The Blue Lagoon is too expensive, this cost 1/10 of the prize:-) I really think you should go.

Sightseeing

When you go downtown I recommend starting with a city walk. They will show you around downtown and feed you with different kind of informations. And you can always ask their advice for things. I think you pay what ever think you have to pay:-)

The Pearl is a building with a (high end) restaurant built on top of five enormous water containers. There is a museum inside and you can go out on the top of the water containers and from there you have a great view of Reykjavik and the mountains around. It is close by and takes no time to go there by car.
