Favorite Neighborhood Spots

These are some of my favorite spots, whether for a cup of coffee, a drink, or a bite to eat that is walking distance from the condo
One of my favorite spots... Great coffee and food along with excellent service to go with a laid back vibe. The chicken biscuit sandwich, burger, and yogurt/granola are delish. If you have a sweet tooth, try their donut. It's $4 but totally worth it.

Go just a few streets off the downtown grid and you’ll get a little escape at Zocalo Café in Clarksville. It’s bright and cheerful inside, and the plant-covered patio is a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner. The Mexican menu has a lot of options (including some healthier things), so you can choose your own adventure depending on how full you want to be at the end of the meal.

Great brunch spot but plan for a wait. It's a popular place for good reason.

This Clarksville American, a “staple of late-night”, is always packed thanks to locally sourced traditional diner fare with a twist, including killer milkshakes, chicken & waffles, plus craft beers; the space is modern with vintage flair and the atmosphere is fun, if a tad loud, perhaps offsetting what some feel are long waits and high prices. Chicken and waffles and the hash are highly recommended.

Great local sports bar serving the finest in southern cuisine; boudin, fried catfish, and crawfish.

An authentic Austin original inspired by Johnny Cash. This Ultra hip dive bar right on the edge of downtown Austin is a great way to start or end the night. They have great cocktails and craft beers and the atmosphere cannot be compared. I'm not one for dive bars but this place shouldn't be passed up.

Clark's is but a rocks throw from my place. It has some of the best seafood in Austin as well as a cool ambiance. It is, however a little pricey but well worth it to indulge. They also make a great burger that's half off during happy hour and $5 martinis (3-6pm Mon-Fri).

A local pizza establishment and my personal favorite. Although there are a few brick and mortar spots around town, they have a food trailer about a half mile east on west 6th.

A good friend of mine started what is now one of the most popular bars in Austin that's gained national recognition. They also have a mezcal bar up stairs. One of the best old fashions in town.
