Things to Do

A trip to the world's brightest Bioluminescent Bay (Mosquito Bay, Vieques) is a must for your time on Vieques! We recommend JAK watersports for their clear bottom kayaks, excellent tour guides, and constellation talks if the night is clear. Cash or charge, trip is rain or shine. On the ride over to the bay you will learn the science behind the glow.

A little bit of a hike, can be muddy so wear water shoes and bug spray. Worth it for the beautiful, magnetic black sand that washes down from the hillsides. Fabulous views from this beach as well!

Vieques was once home to five sugar mills. The jungle is taking over the remains of the Playa Grande Sugar Mill since it was abandoned in the 1940's. Explore on your own, but be careful and please respect the property. Contact the Vieques Conservation and Historical Trust in Esperanza to arrange for an informative tour 787-741-8850. Or, explore on your own, but please be careful of your own safety and respect the site.
