My Favorite Restaurants

Because in South Louisiana we eat, a lot.
Love this family owned place. My favorite: the chicken patacon - sandwich made with large slices of twice fried green plantain instead of bread with shredded chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, avocados and a delicious house made sauce. Within a short walking distance.

Favorite pizza place in town. The Paulie: Pepperoni and jalapenos drizzled with honey - yes honey and it's amazing. Very cool building and when the weather allows they open up the two front windows for an indoor/outdoor seating option.

It's one of those local staples, a hole in the wall type place with it's own rules, no fries, no ketchup (though they do have a sauce that resembles ketchup). It's a simple and delicious burger.

This is THE poboy spot if you're in Lafayette, seriously look no further. They are also known for "hollowing" out their bread so they can fit more of the meats, highly recommend.

Char-grilled oysters and stuffed shrimp are my go to and they make a mean old fashioned cocktail. I prefer the ambiance of the bar area but regular dining area is nice also.

Beautiful Nature Preserve great for kayaking, fishing, photography or a leisurely stroll. Home to many species of water birds, gorgeous cypress trees and native plants (the floating American Lotus are my favorite). If you're into photography this is a must see! Swamp tours and kayak rentals available on Rookery Rd. Oh and yes there are alligators too.
