Out and about from Inverfarigaig

Although this side of Loch Ness is the quiet side compared to the other side with all the big tourist attractions it has quite a few gems hidden is the stunning countryside
Just at the top of the famous waterfalls walk it has seats outside for when it is sunny and cosy fire inside for less perfect days. Also has the most fabulous baking, best carrot cake ever, all made in house fresh everyday.

Great baking and lunches and a small farm shop and local made crafts. A good place to stop at after doing the Whitebridge-Foyers walk through the Dell. Once you cross the river don’t go up the hill back into turn right for a well earned treat!

It is a hotel but also has a good local bar with music from local people, quiz nights but best of all great food. It also has a tea room in the small bar which is delightful. A great place to stop back for your evening meal on the way back from a trip to fort Augustus.

Good beers and food the inn is situated at the head of Loch Ness with the most iconic view of Loch Ness. Used in movies, adverts, paintings there are also great walks along the beach and follow the river round to see Aldourie Castle ( which is an upscale hotel now) , very charming with fairy castle turrets.

Cute little craft place you can paint your own ceramics as a momento of your holiday. Or buy prepainted ones. Set in the woods just of the Foyers Falls walk. Or drive up from lower Foyers on the track opposite the doctors surgery

You hopefully will not be tempted by the camping pods over my cabin - but it does have a great Loch side cafe and gift shop and is good access to launch kayaks for an explore round this area.

At Fort Augustus you can pick up a boat trip that will give you much interesting information on the area as well as a different perspective to the land you have been visiting. Plus it is fun. You can get a RIB or a boat with drinks and food served undercover,

Sightseeing

A very good visitor centre full of information makes this iconic battle field a more interesting visit than just walking round a field. Core to Scottish history it is a recommended visit for anyone with an interest in history
