After a meal rent a Birdie scooter and ride up and down Broadway in the jewelry district and fashion district. Get ready for the heavy traffic if you're going to the beach. I would wait until closer to noon before going there. Instead of driving back during rush hour (around 5 pm), stay in Santa Monica and have dinner there somewhere. 3rd St Promenade which is next to Santa Monica Mall is also a nice place to walk around, watch street performers , shop and eat. The traffic coming back to LA is unbearable during rush hour. Wait until after 7 pm when the traffic is not bumper to bumper.
