Surfing

If you're surfing in Ericeira, then you've probably parked here and walked by the restaurant on the way to catch your waves. Its located directly underneath that intensely high and amazing viewpoint right as you pass Ribamar and enter Ericeira. The waves here are great but you do need to wear the surf booties because there's a lot of reef. Once you've made it out, the waves are easy to catch and less populated than other wave breaks. Summer can be quite crowded with groups from the Surfing schools, but they tend to stick close to the shore. The bathrooms are clean and easy to access plus they have Sagres and Super Bock on deck for that perfect after surf drink. There are board rentals in the rear for those who didn't bring their board to Portugal, and 3-4 Surf Schools for those wanting to give Surfing a try. The food is great and it's a major surf meet-up spot where tourists and locals gather to take in the Surf-culture that embodies Ericeira. Here's a handy link to a 7-day Surf Forecast at Ribeira d'Ilhas: https://magicseaweed.com/Ribeira-dIlhas-Surf-Report/4343/ Here's another handy link to a beach-cam located at the beach: https://beachcam.meo.pt/livecams/ribeira-dilhas/

Foz do Lizandro is a well known surfing beach that not only caters to beginners and intermediates, but also to advanced surfers. On a good day you can get powerful tubes here, but most of the time this break is a forgiving beach break that is perfectly suitable for beginners and intermediates. There are multiple peaks with both lefts and rights, so it’s the kind of wave where you’ll surely find something that pleases you. It is very consistent surf spot. The beach hosts a boardwalk with many restaurants and is a great place to spend the day on the beach with the family as well.

The beautiful beach of Praia do Sul is located just south of Ericeira. It only works properly for Surfing when the swells are bigger. The break can be divided into two different waves. The first is a right point/reef break that is only suitable for experienced surfers. The second is a mixed (sand and reef) break that is also suitable for less experienced surfers with smaller swells.
