California Country Park is just across the road (no need to drive). It has a nice lake and usually there is a paddling pool for Children beside a good quality restaurant for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner (please do your own research as it is sometimes closed)
The park is often used by runners and cyclists trying to stay in shape :-) It is generally a pleasant getaway
Inside the restaurant there are several pictures of stars from the past (Do you think the Americans know this is the 'Real California' from where their name came?

Exercise Recreation and Adventure
This is a great place for Adventure for the Children.
Its not a bad place for them to take their parents too ;-) It has some great climbing adventure attractions as well as being a great starting point for some off road biking and cross country walking/jogging.

This has just been redeveloped and has always been one of the best swimming adventure places in the UK
I have been taking Children there for over 50 years!
It is also just opposite the lookout so may be worth a day out. Not a walk from our place but only a few minutes by car

Sightseeing
If you are into Aviation there are actually several airfields not too far from the house. Please ask me if interested
Blackbushe is a favourite. It used to be owned by the auction centre but has recently been purchased independently and is now in the process of some great transformations and activities. The Cafe is also very reasonable and not a bad place to hang out and have breakfast and just watch the planes taking off and landing.

A truly beautiful building and a great congregation.
Services are at 09:30 and 11.00 so no need to set the alarm :-)
However there are other services before that and sometimes evening and other events. Check their website for more details:

You can either walk or drive. It is a nice walk and will show you some of the starting points for nice country walks or bike rides.
Just turn left out of the gate and walk along to White Horse Lane; Turn left and walk all the way up the hill. When you get to the Pub (which is sometimes nice for lunch) just continue straight across the road and .... there it is. I would allow a good 20 minutes to be there before the service starts
