Sherry's - Best of Montgomery

Good food & More.

My personal faves. Most are 2 blocks away from the house.
First Watch, formerly The Egg & I, is right down the street at Zelda Place center. Fresh juices, killer whole wheat pancakes and my favorite “The Bacado” skillet with bacon and avocado. They only serve breakfast and lunch, close at 2:30 pm daily so visit early.

Another local favorite that just happens 2 blocks away at Zelda Place center is Sushi Cafe. The most hardcore sushi connoisseurs among my friends from out of town love this place. Great menu includes tempura dishes, “bowls” with rice and cooked salmon or chicken, plus other delicious choices. Something for everyone.

Award-winning fine dining with a cool, urban atmosphere. When friends or family come to town from L.A., D.C., Nashville, Atlanta, this is where I take them. Menu is top notch, features specials with fresh seasonal ingredients locally sourced, southern flair. Dessert menu is beyond. The crispy brussel sprouts appetizer will make you a believer...trust me on this.

Surprise...maybe you didn’t know that the Whole Foods hot bar features a very broad variety of delicious, not-so-ordinary entrees. Vegetarian, vegan, paleo, or meat eaters, fresh pizzas and hot soups too. There’s usually something for everyone. Pleasant setting with lots of seating. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner break while you’re out shopping, running errands, meeting friends, or before you go to the movies.

All the basics plus a nice selection of specialty items you don’t typically find in big discount grocers. Really nice fresh produce section too.

2 blocks down the street. Not just a bar...this is a GREAT restaurant with a a really nice variety menu when you want something better than the ordinary family-restaurant-chain experience. Perfect choice for a lunch or dinner meetup, before or after an event or just some real food and awesome service anytime.

2 blocks down the street. This is where the cigar connoisseur comes to relax in the lounge, smoke a nice cigar from their unmatched selection, and watch the game with like minded connoisseurs. If that’s you, you’ve arrived!

Sightseeing

There are many wonderful, well known international tourist destinations to see here. I hope you’ll take the time to visit them...but here are a few interesting places off the beaten path. See “SmallTown South” section too.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Mrs. Coretta Scott King and their youngest child lived here when Dr. King was Pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church and leader of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The home has been kept as it was when the family lived there. The best part was the tour guide who was a member of the church and had belonged to the young women’s organization lead by Mrs. King during those years. Her beautiful retelling of the history of their neighborhood and their daily lives in the home, really made you feel like you were taking an amazing trip back in time.

Small Town South

Charming places and things unlike anywhere else.
As an L.A. girl who moved here from Atlanta, I wondered where this place had been all my life. Authentic, fresh country produce, baked goods, farm fresh eggs, fruit preserves, plants, soaps, etc. It’s kind of amazing to stop by early Saturday morning before breakfast. Take something back home with you!

If you’re a treasure hunter with at least 1 hour to spend, you’ll love wandering this huge 3-story indoor flea market full of wonderful things you haven’t seen since you were a kid—- and they’re just as cool as they were back then when things were built to last. You won’t go home empty-handed.
