County Fair

Porter County Fair July 18-27. 2024 It’s no surprise that the Porter County Fair in Valparaiso has everyone marking their calendars far in advance of this extraordinary summer event. All those 4-Hs have spent months getting ready to show their animals and projects. Kids can’t wait for the great carnival rides, games and fair food. Families welcome time together. And music lovers know that big names rule the grandstand. In fact, the yearly lineup of grandstand talent is so impressive that it easily matches some much larger state fairs across the country. And for fairgoers who love to watch exciting action, this year’s fair will feature Draft Horse show, Drag Race, Truck Pull Challenge, Demolition Derby & more. But perhaps the soul of the fair lies in that traditional, down-home flavor that keeps fairgoers coming back for more. The 4-H competitions provide endless opportunities to see these young people show off their hard work in contests that include everything from dogs to beef and dairy to sheep and goats, horses and ponies, rabbits and poultry, and more. Then there’s food judging, too. There’s no such thing as a great fair without fabulous food. This fair has you covered, with plenty of local and national vendors offering everything from burgers and turkey legs to ethnic fare.

Indiana Dunes National Park is a United States national park located in northwestern Indiana managed by the National Park Service. It was authorized by Congress in 1966 as the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and was redesignated as the nation's 61st national park on February 15, 2019. Indiana Dunes is home to both a national park and a state park. Both are incredible parks that offer countless recreation opportunities. However, Indiana Dunes National Park is owned by the federal government and Indiana Dunes State Park is owned by the State of Indiana. As such, each park has fees and passes that are separate and unique. None of the passes and fees work between the two parks. On March 31st, 2022 Indiana Dunes National Park began requiring a valid entrance pass or receipt. The entrance fee is $25 for a non-commercial family-sized passenger vehicle or $15 per-person for walk-in / bike-in / boat-in and is valid for 7-days from the date of purchase. The Indiana Dunes National Park Annual pass is $45 and is good for a family for one year. The America the Beautiful - Interagency Pass Program: Annual, Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Military, Volunteer in the Park, and Every Kid Outdoors (4th grade) passes are also accepted. All passes are for sold at the Visitor Center, Paul H. Douglas Center, seasonally at the West Beach entrance. The national park's America the Beautiful passes (Annual, Senior, Access, etc.) are not accepted at the Indiana Dunes State Park.

1215 N State Rd 49, Porter, IN 46304 Great place to spend the day at the beach! Food, restrooms, showers, grills available. $7 per car to park for Indiana residents, $12 out of state. Lifeguards on duty The Indiana Dunes State Park's only entrance is at the northern terminus of State Road 49. The state park charges a daily entrance fee per car for almost the entire year ($7 for Indiana plates, $12 for out of state plates). The state park does sell a state park annual pass that is accepted at all Indiana State Parks. The pass is not available for purchase at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center, but can be purchased at the state park office or fee booth. The state park's annual pass is not accepted at any national park or federal land. Park closures are in a constant state of flux, and we must adjust to national and state CoronaVirus (COVID-19) guidelines as they develop. Crowds spread COVID-19, but you can help to fight the spread of COVID-19 by putting on a face mask, EVEN OUTDOORS. As of July 27, 2020, under the Face Covering Requirement executive order 20-37, all Indiana residents and visitors are required to wear face masks outdoors when social distancing is not possible. This mandate is in addition to the mask mandates already in effect at both Lake County and LaPorte County. If you still plan to visit one of the park's beaches, consider the best time to visit: weekdays, early mornings and late afternoons are least crowded. When in doubt, take a hike or picnic instead, or consider a virtual visit.

1583 S Calumet Rd Unit A, Chesterton, IN 46304 We have created a blissful, unique, and healing atmosphere at Evexia Salt Cave! Come in and breathe, relax, and rejuvenate in our stunning man-made pink Himalayan salt cave. More than 20,000 pounds of pink Himalayan salt was imported to make a 440 square foot man-made cave. What is Dry Salt Therapy? Halotherapy, also known as Dry Salt Therapy utilizes a halogenerator to grind and crush 99.99% Pure Grade Sodium Chloride (salt) into microscopic particles that are dispersed into a man-made salt cave via a dry salt aerosol that works to aid respiratory concerns and skin conditions. How Dry Salt Therapy Works The 3 Fundamentals of Dry Salt Therapy Super Absorbent: Dry salt acts like a sponge attracting foreign substances along its path through the respiratory tract. The dry salt behaves like a toothbrush that cleans the respiratory system removing the build-up of foreign elements that cause various respiratory ailments and conditions. Anti-Inflammatory: Inhaled dry salt particles may help to reduce inflammation in the entire respiratory tract and widen the airway passages. A clean respiratory system naturally results in higher oxygen intake, increased energy, and an improved immune system. Anti-Bacterial: The dry salt particles act as an anti-bacterial agent, dissolving bacteria and pollutants lodged in the respiratory tract. These are either coughed up or naturally expelled by the body. Benefits of Dry Salt Therapy Dry Salt Therapy is recognized as a natural, safe, and effective wellness practice for preventive and restorative healthcare. This can be very beneficial for overall wellness by removing the toxicity from the respiratory system and improving the function and appearance of the skin while boosting the immune system. Dry Salt Therapy also provides many mental health benefits, i.e., improved mood, mental performance, lower levels of stress and helps you to sleep better.
