Tarana is a small Central West town, a 45 minute drive from Blackheath. The local quarry produced the Tarana pink granite that was used to clad the exterior of the Sydney Opera House. It has a popular pub with a large outdoor eating area covered with wisteria vines. It also has a monthly farmers’ market with live music. The Tarana railway station is heritage listed and features an early 20th century cast iron water tank.
