Great cosmopolitan area, very busy on weekends!
There is so much to enjoy in Bondi, lots of cafes, restaurants, small bars and shops for almost everything. Bondi junction is a short bus ride or 20 min walk up the hill which has a huge shopping mall and anything you can’t find at the beach shops. The Tin Pin bakery is just up on Bondi Rd between Denham and Castlefield Sts, and has great bread, cakes, sandwiches and coffee. The health food shop across the road is also very good and you can buy by weight, eggs individually, and take your own container for many things. I recommend the CornerHouse, the white building on the corner for a nice glass of wine and a bite to eat. Great pizzas. The pub, The Royal is very trendy and packed in weekends so unless you like a crowded night, much better during the week. Bottle shop attached. Chemist is next to the Tin Pin Bakery. There’s a marathon and half marathon running on Sunday so be prepared for some road closures and delays on Sunday probably up until lunchtime, around the city. I recommend the Icebergs pool for a safe swim if you’re not keen on the surf, hot showers and a sunny spot. Sadly the cafe and sauna there are temporarily closed at present. The Bronte Pool, two beaches away, is also fabulous, feee to swim and another sun trap facing north. It’s about a 30 min walk along the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk, heading south. .

Everything you need and great eating. There is a Woolworths supermarket down in Campbell Pde, near the public school which is open early until midnight each night. Much more local is Harris Farm greengrocer and supermarket style shop, on Hall St, downstairs in the mini shopping mall near Messina ice cream. Good for cheese, fruit & veg, meat, fish and more. Messina is definitely worth going to for their unique flavours On Lamrock Ave just a stroll away, is the Cooee Art Gallery for indigenous art. Worth a visit. Gertrude and Alice bookshop, Vinnies, Nalinis for vegan food, several Thai restaurants and lots of cafes are also on hall St so just wander around. Umu on Gould St good for healthy food and juices and coffee.
