This beautiful working harbour/marina is literally around the corner from the house. Lots of interesting things go on here all day long so it's a very interesting walk. The views to sea from the harbour wall itself are stunning and there just happens to be an array of top class fish and chip and ice cream shops close by!

Arbroath cliffs are an amazing sight and a beautiful walk. Keep to the path for safety of course - but there are areas where you can head down to beach stretches and quiet areas to picnic, swim or kayak.

City advice

Don't miss

Boat trips run from Arbroath marina to the Bell Rock Lighthouse.

These trips are weather dependent but if you're visiting Arbroath when there is one running, it's well worth it! This is the world’s oldest surviving sea washed lighthouse and was built on Bell Rock (also known as Inchcape) in the North Sea, 11 miles (18km) off the coast of Arbroath. The lighthouse operated in tandem with a shore station, the Bell Rock Signal Tower, built in 1813 at the north of Arbroath harbour. Today this building houses the Signal Tower Museum and visitor centre detailing the history of the lighthouse. Regular trips out to the lighthouse operate frequently from Arbroath Harbour.
