Day out!

Beautiful grounds with a lake in the middle, so perfect for walking round and taking a picnic. Lots of trees and greenery, so very picturesque in the autumn months. Nearer to Christmas, they often have a light display. Booking online ahead of time is advised.

Such an iconic place to visit - you can either do a drive by, or park up and walk around the stones. About 40-45 minutes from us, but well worth a visit if you haven't been up close before!

You can actually see this from our field, so that may be all you need! But if you fancy visiting properly, it's about 15 minutes away in a car. You can drive right up to the top and walk around, as well as stand right next to it from the top of the hill. It's always quite breezy up there, so take a coat (and maybe a kite!)

This takes place in nearby Frome (about 6 miles away) on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Frome also has plenty of quirky shops and cafes, to add to your visit. There is also an independent market on the first Sunday of the month (March - December), 10am - 3pm.

A mini-Stonehenge, and I've heard several people say that they prefer it, as you can get really close to the stones. A small village with a scattering of stones, on the other side of Devizes, so approximately 30 minutes drive.

If you have plenty of time during your visit, and want to go slightly farther afield, you can get to London, via London Paddington on a direct train, taking only an hour and twenty minutes from nearby Westbury train station (some trains slightly less, but some trains take longer and may include a change). Once there, the world is your oyster!

Nearby towns to visit

Bath is an amazing city, just 10 miles from the barnlets. You can drive or get there by train (either Trowbridge or Westbury stations). Lots of historic sights - the abbey, the roman baths, amazing architecture, plus shops and restaurants. In November / December, there is a Christmas market that is lovely to visit.

Food scene

One of our favourite local places to have brunch... only open for breakfast, brunch or lunch, and it's always busy! Unfortunately you can't book a table, but worst case scenario, you can take away their delicious food.

This is probably our closest pub, and just about walkable (approx 1 mile). It's under relatively new ownership, and not open full time, so worth calling ahead before you set off!
