The FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE (FRI) वन अनुसन्धान संस्थान is an institute of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and is a premier & oldest institution in the field of forestry research in India.
FRI also contains a museum on forestry which is open from 9:30am to 5:00pm daily, with a nominal entry fee of ₹40 per person. There are six sections in the museum, namely Pathology Museum, Social Forestry Museum, Silviculture Museum, Timber Museum, Non-Wood Forest Products Museum & Entomology Museum. The building was also listed in the GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS, as the largest purely brick structure in the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also on the occasion of the 4th International Yoga Day, 2018 leaded atleast 50,000 enthusiasts in the sprawling campus of FRI, Dehradun. Even more than a dozen movies including Dulhan Ek Raat Ki, Krishna Cottage, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, 404, Paan Singh Tomar, Nanban, Student of the Year, Student of the Year 2, Dilli Khabar, Yaara Genius, Dear Daddy and Maharshi were majorly shot in this campus including television commercial ad of Bournvita & punjabi song Pyaar tere naal he and Sajjan Raji by Satinder Sartaj was also shot here. Some web series like Puncch beat is also shot here.

Robber's cave is a river cave frequently visited by tourists seeking the adventure of witnessing this natural formation that has river water flowing from the middle of a cave, perfect for those seeking adventure and thrill.
Locals call it " GUCHHU PANI "and also believe that it is home to Lord Shiva. Tourists can explore this 600m long cave that has been divided into two main parts. If you happen to walk a little further through the stream, you can also spot a splendid waterfall, making you feel you are a part of a mystery movie with its dark limestone, streams gushing into the cave and the sounds echoing inside the formation. If not this, then it will at least give a sense of belongingness as Mother Nature will make you slow down and enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of the location. The cave has some extraordinary cold water springs in the underground which help cool down the super hot summer afternoon temperature. It is a perfect picnic spot amidst the natural beauty of Uttarakhand & is widely famous for a strange natural phenomenon that people often get to witness here i.e. " A stream of running water suddenly appears & then disappears underground, only to be discovered a few yards away leaving the crowd both excited and astonished by the wonders of Mother Nature ".
