Closest coffee shop to the house. You'll want to walk across the pedestrian bridge (across Addison, over the interstate) to get here fastest. Great coffee.

Can Can is actually a great place to eat lunch or dinner, but I like it most in the early morning for coffee. it's perfect place for an 8am business date, or to go read a book with french press and the windows open. They also have an absinthe bar for later in the day.

Food Scene

Cozy eatery and taphouse within a super short walk to the house. Even though their speciality is sausage and cheese plates, the salad is loaded with fresh local veggies and farmhouse cheeses.

The best pie. In the fall, get the salted caramel pumpkin pie with gingersnap crust. In the winter, try their amazing hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows. Cherry pie in the spring, and lemon meringue in the summer. They also have handheld savory pies. The sausage rolls are the best. order to go and eat it in the park, the overlook of the city, or the historic cemetery.

Cuban diner that has been a main stay in Richmond for decades. You can't go wrong with the Cuban sandwich, the roast pork platter, or the huevos rancheros. The tres leches cake is a must- it was featured on the food Network a years ago for "best thing I ever ate."

Bill Murray's favorite spot to eat in Richmond. Also my favorite spot. The host is rude but the food is amazing. Chalk board menu, no frills. bring your glasses because it's dark, and cash or a check book because they only take Amex. Be prepared to grab your own wine off the shelf. This place is an old old Richmond classic.

A lunch, brunch, and dinner staple in my life. The mezze plates are large- get a few and share. Show up early or late if you don't have a reservation- they also have a community table.
