Hiking

The Cohutta Wilderness is a 34,102 acre wilderness area lying in Georgia and Tennessee within the Cohutta Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountain chain. Elevations range from 950 feet in the Alaculsy Valley to 4,200 feet on Big Frog Mountain. Rugged terrain and flood-prone rivers make the Cohuttas especially challenging for hikers. Wilderness users should plan trips carefully and make sure that weather conditions will be favorable enough for a safe trip. The Cohutta Wilderness Driving Tour may be the best way to experience the Cohuttas the first time around but the weather is still a major factor even for the driving tour.  If there has recently been a lot of rain I would advise against it as all the roads are unpaved (here's a link to a map of the driving tour) http://s3.amazonaws.com/blueridge-2018/documents/DrivingCohutta-2017.pdf

The Ocoee Whitewater Center has a one-mile hiking trail which crosses a 330 foot suspension bridge and circles the center. The trail is entirely accessible for those who are physically challenged. There are 30 miles of trails for hikers and mountain bikers, and some are appropriate for family biking as well.

Rafting Kayaking Tubing

Some of the best whitewater rafting in the southeast can be found on the Ocoee River. There are literally dozens of companies that offer kayaking, tubing and whitewater rafting trips on the Ocoee. I recommend guests read the reviews of various companies in order to ensure you find a company that caters to the type of trip you want to take.

Guests at our cabin have consistently said they've had great experiences at Blue Ridge Mountain Kayaking. They offer a variety of trips including everything from beginner lessons for first-time kayakers to medium trips and even twelve mile trips for more experienced kayakers. They also have trips for people who would like to fish while kayaking. I know for a fact that, that area of the Toccoa River is regarded as a great section for trout fishing.

Horseback riding

Blue Ridge Mountain Trail Rides has been in business for many years and has been consistently stellar in terms of rides offered, rates and customer service. They are also located less than 5 mins from the cabin. Their website is https://www.blueridgemountaintrailrides.com/ and their phone number is 1-706-408-7433.  The last time I checked, their one hour rides are $35 per person, or $31 if you pay with cash.
