This castle (30km far from my house) is an architectural monument of national importance, occupied since 1258 by over 20 generations of Ysenburgs. Erected in the 20th century in form of a moated castle to protect the extensive forests of the realm, it consisted of the tower, the keep, the and a Romanesque chapel surrounded by a massive 13-sided defence wall. Many Gothic and renaissance additions followed. Significant is the late Gothic chapel with carved choir stalls. Guided tours allow access to the historic interior. The outer castle court is enclosed by a circle of buildings which gave westerly protection.

Kransberg Castle (26km far from my house) is situated on a steep rock near Kransberg (incorporated into Usingen in 1971), a village with about 800 inhabitants in the Taunus mountains in the German state of Hesse. The medieval building, which acquired its current appearance in the late 19th century, served military and intelligence purposes in World War II and during the Cold War. It was returned to its original representation purposes during the second half of the 20th century, and briefly became a business park for small information technology and internet companies in the early post-millennium years.

Sprudelhof (8 km far from my house) is an unique cultural monument and Art Nouveau jewel: The large coherent Jugendstil ensemble in Europe reveals its beauty as whole but also in small details. The large hot spring fountain in the middle of the courtyard is the symbol of Bad Nauheim.
Six of the seven bathhouses at the "Sprudelhof" are well-preserved. Built in 1900, the complex is considered the biggest coherent Art Nouveau ensemble in Europe. The new style, also called Jugendstil or Modern Style caused a sensation. Curved and floral contours, lush decorations and colorful ornaments heralded a new zeitgeist. The architecture, the sidings, windows, the furniture, the lamps, everything down to the smallest details is designed in Art Nouveau style.

The finds from three Celtic burials from the 5th century BC, and the statue of a Celtic ruler are unique and recognised throughout the world as an archaeological sensation.
This museum was opened in 2011 and is part of the World of the Celts at the Glauberg. This also includes a research centre and a large archaeological park. In the park you will find the reconstruction of a burial mound, a mysterious system of banks and ditches, and fortifications from early Celtic times. Further monuments from other historical periods can be seen on the Glauberg plateau.
Here you can submerge yourself in a world that was created by the Celtic ancestors 2,500 years ago.

This amusement park (23km far from my house) is perfect for families with children aged 2-10. Lots to do for the children on their own, as well as together. You can book barbecue huts in advance and bring your own food and coal to prepare, if you want the whole day. Food vendors there are relatively inexpensive, which was very welcome. The place is well-kept and clean.
A family-run gem far from the typical hypercapitalist entertainment parks one is used to.
I would recommend going on a weekday as it gets extremely busy on weekends and holidays.
