Neighborhoods

Vredehoek is a family community, and definitely one where community is thriving. The properties are sometimes quite close to each other but what makes it come to life is the scattered parks where people tend to get together and let the kids and dogs mingle in the mornings and afternoons. For kids the best options are Dewaal, Deer Park and Rugley park (smaller one). For adults, Dewaal can work or a walk-in Deer Park forest never dissapoints. The attraction of Vredehoek is it's accessibility to attractions (beaches, wine farms, table mountain), whilst also being slightly removed from the sometimes, chaotic traffic in Camps Bay/Seapoint/Greenpoint. There are a couple of local spots. Shopping - Spar at Top of Derry Street (nice salmon and tuna) Take away pizza or a beer - Carlyses on Derry is close otherwise head into a ton and Bree/Kloof Street has alot to offer. For the adventurous, riding or walking up the mountain is a must. You won't be saturated with bars and restaurants on your doorstep but you are within 5 mins drive of that if you would like it (definitely walk up kloof street and enjoy a local coffee at Yours Truly). An intimate locals restaurant is Bao Down, it's a tiny place but serves fusion asian.
