The Appalachian Bistro is an outstanding restaurant, with a seasonal menu using many local food sources, accommodating food allergies, and presenting creative drinks and desserts. The setting is wonderful for conversation, and outdoor seating is beautiful when weather nice. Reservations required for most evenings.

Multitude of things to do and see in the National Park - scenic drives, hiking or just short walks on the "quiet" trails, fishing, historical sites, etc. Be sure to go by the Sugarlands visitor center near Gatlinburg or more information and a nice gift shop. The Visitors Center in Townsend can also provide lots of information on the Smokies, and has a gift shop with good choices.

A short drive up Butterfly Gap Road will take you to Top of the World and then on to the Foothills Parkway, where Look Rock is close by. A short hiking trail takes you to a viewing tower for a 360 view of the mountains and valleys.

If interested in paddling the beautiful Little River that flows from the Smokies through Blount County, you can rent a kayak or canoe and get a shuttle to put in for a several hour float.

The new section, known as "the missing link" for many years, just opened November 10, 2018, has entrance/exits between Hwy 321 near Walland and Wears Valley.
