Getting around

Public Bus System

Public buses (also called jitneys) are a cost effective way to get around. Walk 2 blocks towards the ocean to West Bay Street. Stand on the oceanside if you want to head to downtown or Paradise Island. Stand on the opposite side if you want to head towards the airport. Bus #10 and #12 is what you are looking for. Just stick your hand out and wave them down when you see them coming. Buses run from about 6am - 6/7pm. You can always ask the driver if they will stop at your desired location. Cost is $1.25, exact change needed.
Getting around

Taxis

Taxis are readily available at the airport, Baha Mar, downtown and Paradise Island. You can spot a taxi by their taxi plates (yellow, that will either say taxi, limo or bus. Airport charges are predetermined depending on location and how many bags you have with you. Please always confirm cost before starting your trip. The Bahamas does not have Uber or Lyft. We do have a contact for a small local taxi company if needed.

Rental Car

Please remember we drive on the left hand side of the road and have plenty of roundabouts. Here are the rental car companies available at the airport: www.hertz.com www.avis.com www.budgetrentalcar.com www.dollarrentalcar.com
