City advice

What to pack

Light pullover, folding umbrella

As the name suggests, "Meghalaya" , the Abode of Clouds can be rather unpredictable weatherwise. A sudden light shower followed by bright sunshine is common during the monsoon. A slight chill in the evenings can be expected. For winters, please please carry enough woolens if you don't want to be frozen duck.
Getting around

Bara Bazar.. An absolute must.

A bit congested but those who can brave the crowds would witness a local market like no other. Hidden delights await those who savour local food and organic farm produce brought in directly from the dozens of villages surrounding Shillong. A word of caution..though basically safe, it's advisable not to carry too much cash or valuables due to the rush in this market
Getting around

Shared Taxis are the common way to get around the city.
