4th of July - Independence Day
This is a wonderful time to be at the lake! The Hell's Gate area of the lake has the most beautiful fireworks show I have ever seen and you do not need a boat to watch them. You can easily watch the show from the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce shoreline. The event is family friendly with fun activities. Alcohol and pets are prohibited, but you can bring in your own cooler with non-alcoholic beverages. There are handicapped parking spaces near the shoreline.

PK Mardi Gras Parade and Shrimp Fest
This is a fun event my family has enjoyed for years! There is a parade down Park Road 36 in the afternoon with lots of candy and goodies thrown from the floats followed by a Mardi Gras shrimp boil at the Chamber of Commerce building with live music and dancing.
