This is one of the fastest, freshest, most delicious, traditional and inexpensive places to eat in Sayulita. It's out our front door and @one and one half blocks towards the beach. We love it for breakfast tacos and lunch. There's minimal seating; you stand in line on the sidewalk and select a variety of freshly made traditional Mexican foods for tacos or for a plate with fresh tacos. Great place popular with locals and visitors.

One of our absolute favorite restaurants in Sayulita. The food is always delicious, it's in the heart of the "scene" on Av Revolucion, and it is simply wonderful. You may have to wait for a table during dinner at high season but it's worth the wait. It's @ two blocks from our house.

Don Pedros is a lovely restaurant on the beach where you can enjoy great ocean views, fresh good food and occasional live music. Monday nights is Salsa night where you can learn to salsa dance and listen to a fabulous live band. The food includes pizza, salads, fresh fish, steak, etc. It's out our door and a 2 1/2 short blocks to the beach--takes you maybe 5 minutes to walk there.

Paninos is one of the first places in Sayulita to offer a variety of freshly baked goods including breads, muffins, pastries, espresso drinks etc. They've evolved to serve a wide variety of wonderful sandwiches, breakfasts options -- great for breakfast and lunch. Close to the beach so it's convenient when hanging out at the beach and want a quick, delicious bite. They are located within two blocks of our house (two locations now).

During our first trip to Sayulita in 2003, we had our first "street food" in town at this taco stand--and it remains one of our go to's. They have a rotisserie of meat they carve off and top it with onions, grilled pineapple and an assortment of fresh salsas. Very inexpensive and delicious. It's down our street about one block away.

Our favorite lunch and dinner taco place by far. Vegetarian options in addition to grilled fish and meats make this a wonderful place for all. They have very limited seating and there's usually a wait. Portions are very generous and they bring out an array of fresh salsas, beans, limes, onions, etc so you can help build your own tacos. It's located about one block away -- five houses down our street, take a right, go past the church on the town square and it's a few doors down on the left.

One of the oldest cafes in town offering popular breakfasts such as pancakes, omelets, french toast, sandwiches, smoothies etc. If you are wanting familiar food, this is the place. It's on the Plaza -- @1/2 block from our house and across the Plaza. It's also great for hanging out/people watching.

If you are after a good wood fired pizza, La Rustica is a very popular place. It's one and a half blocks from our house; you can also call in and order to go. It's about a block from our house, across from Choco Banana which is on the Plaza.

This open air corner café is very sweet, easy to find, very close to our house on your way to the beach (maybe 1 block away), and has great breakfasts, lunches, wi-fi, and is great for people watching.

One of our favorites for breakfast in particular -- serves a great breakfast menu, good coffee, mimosas, and you are about 1/2 block from the ocean. It's also good for lunch and dinner. It's out our front door and an easy 1 1/2 block stroll towards the ocean on our street, Marlin, on the right. It's also next to the Iguana Tree which always has iguanas on it; we've often dined on the rooftop terrace with iguanas happily perched on limbs 100 feet away.

Rubens is a few doors down from the Plaza on Delfines -- it's a wonderful lunch place with amazing salads, burgers and sandwiches. It's about 1 1/5 blocks from our front door. Not a lot of seating but decent. It's next door to Barracuda which we haven't tried but is supposed to be quite good.

Neighborhoods

San Pancho is the next town just a few miles north of Sayulita and a wonderful day trip and for spectacular sunsets on the beach. They have chairs and umbrellas to rent during the day, food service on the beach, and a long, nice stretch of beach to walk along. We've actually seen semi-wild horses running through waves during a sunset once -- a sight to behold. San Pancho also has a great music festival in the spring. The town is very different in feel from Sayulita; it's nice to see two very different "vibes" in the same close area. A fabulous restaurant for dinner is La Ole Rica about one block from the beach on the main road. It's also a good place for shopping, with sweet small galleries and a "permanent" square of traditional crafts being sold right where you enter the beach.

Massage

There are a lot of great massage places in Sayulita including the Buddha Spa on our street next to Don Pedros by the beach. However, I love this hotel's in house massage service in a private room. The hotel is past the soccer field in the north end and is a bit of a walk -- but a lovely stroll through the village if you are up to it. They have two massage therapists who charge non-guests @$20 US for a 45 minute massage in a private room. They also offer yoga classes on the rooftop. While you are waiting, or following your massage, they allow you to use their pools. It's a little hidden gem I've discovered that adds to my self-care regime when in Sayulita. You can look them up online and call ahead to make an appointment, although they require you pay on the spot to secure an appointment (I imagine they will take a credit card on the phone). Or it can be a little exploration adventure to walk over there, make an appointment and see a bit of town in doing so.
