Food

The restaurants in town are excellent but do get fully booked so we’d advise you to book early.
For its unique quirkiness and outstanding food, BYO booze, cash only but there's an ATM next door. Best seafood in Whitstable? we think so, book in advance!

Great restaurant. We’ve never been let down here for any meal. More often than not the menu caters for meat loves, fish eaters and vegetarians. Great wine list and a really warm inviting staff.

Arguably the best breakfast in town, plus a good selection of other foods. Cafe/local store. They can bring you a hamper to the beach during the summer months too.

Great fish 'n' chips, if you see a queue, get in it, they'll have just fried. Proper chips, fried in beef dripping. Traditional dining in the rear or take away

Quirky shops, bars, cafes, British cheese shop all within a short walk from our home. A very small handful of chains, the rest independent shops.

Food scene

This working harbour recently had an upgrade with the addition of the South Quay Shed. There are great food options including sushi, pulled pork and burgers as well as a pub. The small shops offer locally themed artwork and gift ideas. Next to the harbour is the Harbour village with beach hut sized shops selling foods, crafts and essential beach kites!

Days out on the beach

Long shingle beach perfect for picnics and days out. Drinking taps and a traditional ice cream seller on a bike, very good ice cream! Tankerton High Street is close by for refreshments and fish 'n' chips. The swimming here is the best in the area due to the water depths and tides. There is a marked off swimming area with lifeguards during busy times and weekends as well if you want that extra peace of mind Please do take your rubbish away though if the bins are full, rubbish left next to the bins to stop the seagulls making a mess of it! Have a walk along "The Street" at low tide!

A beautiful long shingle spit that stretches out to sea for up to a mile at low tides. Great for a walk but do take care to keep an eye on the incoming tides. At low tide, the water to the left of the street remains deep enou to swim.
