Asgaard Farm is a quick 10 minute drive from the cabin and is gorgeous all year round. If you are visiting in the spring they will let you meet the baby goats! Check out the farm store (Typically open Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings) for a great selection of meats, cheeses, and other local goods. Their eggs are delicious and usually a rainbow of colors. I highly recommend any of the goat cheese spreads!

It was at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in 1980 that the US men's hockey team toppled the Soviet Union on their way to winning the gold medal. This is where 16-year-old figure skater Sonja Henie won an Olympic gold medal in 1932 and charmed the world. Out front is the speed skating Oval, where in 1932 local Olympian Jack Shea and teammate Irving Jaffee each won two gold medals, Eric Heiden won five in 1980, and where you can skate all winter long. Check out their calendar of events before your trip, you might catch a figure skating competition, or hockey game!

Winter Activities

Winter is magical in the Adirondacks. Get out and explore some of the activities then spend the nigh by the fire in the cabin!
Awesome ski mountain, just a 15 minute drive from the cabin! Whiteface has 12 lifts, 89 runs, and 2 terrain parks. The view from the top of the gondola is breathtaking! You can rent gear at the base of the mountain and if you buy your lift tickets online ahead of time you usually get a discount.

A visit to this tree farm feels like you're in a Hallmark Christmas movie! Family owned and operated, they have a few different types of trees and you can choose to cut your own down or select one that is pre cut. They also make beautiful wreaths and have a great gift store!

Food and Drinks

A few of my favorite places in the area!
Come in for a wine tasting and save your glass for a discount on another tasting at Goose Watch Winery in Lake Placid. The wines are grown in the Finger Lakes region so tend to be on the sweeter side. My favorites are their fruity wines for sangria or wine slushies in the summer!

Big Slide is a great place to visit for lunch on a day in Lake Placid! They have a rotating selection of great locally brewed beer. Definitely get a flight to taste a few. Try the hot pepper ale for something unique! They also have a delicious selection of food. In the summer, they have outdoor seating and cornhole.
