NOTES ON YOUR STAY AT LISIERE SUD A. To locate and see the directions to Lisiere Sud A use the Google Map website and enter 'Route de la Comba 33, 3963 Crans Montana, Switzerland. Much information on facilities and events in Crans Montana is on the Tourist Office Website at. https://crans-montana.ch Buses within Crans Montana to and from the centre of town are free from the stop (La Comba) in front of the house. Travel to and from the town needs to be planned carefully as the bus only runs every 60 minutes or so. Literature: There are up to date tourist brochures, maps and a bus timetable in the apartment.   The Post Office is on the main street in Montana (Avenue de la Gare). Take the right fork just past the funicular station. This is a two-minute drive from the apartment or a fifteen-minute walk. Bakeries: TAILLENS, which is an excellent bakery in Crans-Montana is on the left towards the end of Avenue de la Gare. They have a branch on Route de l’Astoria which is towards the Barzette Cable Car Station. The latter is nearer the apartment. GERBER is equally good, located opposite the ice rink on Route du Rawyl leading to Crans with a spacious coffee shop and a sunny terrace. Bank: UBS is close to Taillens on the other side of the road on the corner. In this branch, there is just an ATM machine. Only the UBS Branch in Crans provides counter service. THE TOURIST OFFICE is on Route des Arolles in the centre of Montana past UBS and near the Church. It is well worth making a visit there for information, events, maps and guides. SKI SCHOOL: The Montana Ski School Office is in the same building as the Tourist Office, where you can book individual or group ski - or snowboard lessons.   Supermarkets: COOP Supermarket is along Rue du Pas-de-l'Ours which is below and parallel to the Avenue de la Gare. ALDI and DENNER are close to the Tourist  Office and both offer groceries and wines at good prices.      MIGROS, a large supermarket, is near to Crans just past Lac Grenon. PUBS AND RESTAURANTS. The Cabaret with Harry’s Bar is a minute’s walk from UBS at the end of Route du Parc on the corner facing the ice rink. It is a favourite for our young guests in the evenings. There are a large number of restaurants to choose from. We can recommend the MICHELANGELO (close to the Montana Post Office) for Italian food (this is a favourite with our family). Miscellaneous Local Walk. Behind the house above the first track is a stream marked ‘Promenade 100ème’. It is a pleasant and easy walk in the shade along the stream. To find the start leave the chalet, turn right and then take the very first turning right, right again in front of the house on the corner, and then left up the steps.   Mountain Visit. The cable car from Les Barzettes station is less than a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute uphill walk directly behind the house. This cable car station leads to Les Violettes and Plaine Morte where the views of the Alps are truly spectacular. During the summer walking and mountain biking activities are very popular. Lac de la Moubra. This attractive lake and surrounding wood to the south of the town offers lots of activities with a special appeal to young people. These include a treetop climbing and obstacle course and pedalos on the lake. Golf: There are two Golf Courses. The 18 hole Severiano Ballesteros course provides extensive walking tracks in the winter. In the centre is the Snow Park with a cafe/restaurant and sun terrace. It is surrounded by a large area for children to sledge and ski on gentle slopes. Skiing: Details of lifts and cost of ski passes are available on the Crans-Montana Tourist website and in the brochures in the apartment. LES BARZETTES Station is the closest to our house. The other two stations are in Montana and Crans. It is really immaterial which cable car one travels on, as all the 40+ pistes in Crans Montana are connected. The long run from Plaine Morte down to Piste Nationale and up to Cry d'Er and back to Barzettes is well worth doing. The restaurants on BELLA LUI and MERBE are excellent. We recommend making reservations for both. Self Service Restaurants on CRY d'ER and LES VIOLETTES are both good value. There is a smart restaurant at CHETZERON which is very good although quite expensive. Intermediate skiers on their first day may enjoy the various red and green runs that are accessible from the middle station (Montana) at ARNOUVAZ.. We advise guests who wish to hire skis etc to pre-book online. The ‘ONE WAY SPORTS SHOP” (opposite the ice rink/Casino in Montana) is our preferred shop. They hold a rental franchise at www.snowrental.net . If any guests mention Mrs Scotson of Lisière-Sud they should give a 20% discount, but we cannot guarantee this agreement! RINALDO a larger ski shop at the side of the ice rink towards Migros sometimes offers a discount. English is spoken in all the ski hire shops Information for the apartment is on a separate file. 19/01/2022
