This is a short distance from the little town of kells. Kells Augustinian Priory is one of the best preserved in Ireland, it is a National Monument and a must see. In Kells you will also find a Celtic cross that dates from the 9th century at the burial site of Niall Caille, High King of Ireland. Wander around the ruin which has a church, a chapel, prior’s residence or sacristy and several domestic buildings. There are guided tours available from Mid-June to Mid-September.

These caves are always exciting. I still enjoy them to this day. If your on your way to the discovery park these are on your way too! Although ensure you bring cash as there was no card machine the last time I visited!

Enjoy a great day out here. You can enjoy the 80 acre activity park with walking trails, kids play areas, fishing lakes and a canopy walkway. As a kid I loved the playground here (but now there’s also a zip line to enjoy).

What to pack
Ready for an adventure!
The cottage is located right beside the river. So ensure you pack your swimwear. As if the weather is right and you would like to enjoy the water. I’ll print you to the best swimming spots all in walking distance from the cottage. Bring shoes and clothes to explore the little forest in the garden and the local fields.
