The Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay is one of the most peaceful places to go in Redding. You have nature at it's finest with beautiful scenery, families taking a stroll and people-watching at its best of those out and about in the community :) If you're interested in getting fresh air and sunshine, then you won't want to miss the chance to take a walk around the Sacramento River trails and see this gorgeous place!

Interested in hiking and taking in as much fresh air as you can? Look no further than Lassen National Park. Depending upon how far you decide to go, this park is about 45min to an hour's drive outside of Redding. It's far enough away that you feel like it's an escape, yet close enough to still feel right at home.

Absolutely stunning view! If you're interested in a great place to unwind and relax, look no further than View 202. They have a massive patio that sits right over the Sacramento River. My recommendation is to go on a Thursday. They offer half-off appetizers all day and night. Also, make sure to plan a trip later in the day as you will not want to miss the most gorgeous sunset you'll ever see!

City advice

Customs and culture

Redding is a host to hundreds of different cultures

Bethel Church draws people in from all over the world to come for conferences, events, and local church services. With this in mind, you won't always encounter an American when at a grocery store or even driving on the road. As a local in Redding, we tend to be courteous and respectful of all cultures. If you get the chance to meet someone from another country, don't be afraid to strike up a conversation!
What to pack

WEATHER - SEPT - MARCH

The weather can be so funny here in Redding. Right now we're on the "warmer" side of winter as the sun has started to come out and we're hitting high 60's and low 70's temperatures. To be safe, bring a pair of regular walking shoes and your favorite pair of flip flops/sandals. It's still boots season around here as well, so you wouldn't be out of place if you wore them. The air is still a little on the chilly side, so make sure to bring a sweater or cardigan with you. The evenings are a little cooler than the day time so keep this in mind when packing sleepwear as well.
What to pack

WEATHER - APRIL - MAY

The weather is PERFECT! The sun is out, the air is still nice and cool and you'll want to be outside every day! Pack Spring clothing. Shorts, T-shirts, sandals, dresses. Redding is in full bloom in the Spring and it's absolutely gorgeous!
What to pack

WEATHER - JUNE - AUGUST

REDDING IS HOT IN THE SUMMER!!! There is not a day that goes by that you will not want to be: > Inside and enjoying the air conditioning > Out on the lake > At the water park Basically, anything that can keep you wet and cool is what you'll want to pack for!
Book before you go

Civic Auditorium/Sundial Bridge

Try to book your trip around something that's happening here in Redding as you won't want to miss a chance to go to the Civic Center. You'll park, enter in from either up or down stairs and enjoy a concert, a comedy show, a magic act, conference... etc at this beautiful place. It's also conveniently located across the street from Mosaic restaurant and the Sundial Bridge.
