Love this place...Takes about 90 minutes. The former Martin Van Buren Elementary School has been redesigned to include a 5,000 foot exhibition space with 24-foot ceilings, accompanied by traditional gallery spaces on the second floor that have been transformed from existing classrooms. The property sits on five acres of land that provide a temporary home for outdoor sculptural and site-specific installations. Its inaugural exhibition in 2014 was work by Nick Cave.

Beautiful grounds! Very interesting! Frederic Church is well-known as a painter, but he was also a world traveller, a family man, and a self-taught architect, farmer and landscape designer. He and his wife Isabel were pious, wellread, and funloving. They raised four children at their estate overlooking the Hudson. Though Frederic and Isabel Church moved among New York City’s cultural tastemakers, Olana was their primary home.

Stretching along 100 acres of sloping farmland, Hillrock Estate Distillery produces some of the finest whiskies to come from the Hudson Valley, the entire state of New York, and arguably the country. Beyond this plot in the town of Ancram (which houses the distillery, barrel house, visitor center and an elegant Georgian home dating back to 1806), Hillrock owns and leases another 850 acres nearby—a move that allows them to grow all their own barley, rye and corn -Cool Hunting

Like a monument frozen in time, Bartlett House stands alone on an acre of land on iconic route 66. Once surrounded by a cluster of buildings, it was a flourishing railroad hotel from 1870 to the mid-1900s, serving as the social center of the then industrial town of Ghent, New York. If its walls could talk, they would tell tales of rowdy caucuses and lively parties. Package this with Art Omi. Fun day excursion

Great outdoor spot that offers local craft beers, specialty cocktails, snacks and food. From their website: Olde York farm is a woman-owned and family operated distillery and cooperage located along the Claverack Creek. Grain and fruit used for distillation are grown right here in the Hudson Valley to make seasonal batch spirits. Our distillery is part of the historic Jacob Rutsen van Rensselaer House & Mill complex. Rensselaer also had his own distillery and cooperage circa 1805. Today our distillery and cooperage resides in Rensselaer's former carriage house. Our handmade barrels, made on site, are used to age our bourbon, whiskey, and brandy. On weekends, we are serving cocktails, local beer, wine, and cider in our Cocktail Garden. Tours of the distillery and cooperage are also available on weekends by reservation.
