Omaha Beach has an impressive monument called 'Les Braves'. It shows wings of hope, freedom and brotherhood. Almost 35.000 soldiers of the allied troups went ashore here at D-Day, the 6th of June 1944. Omaha Beach is a beautiful sandy beach where you can walk, please go there and enjoy its sunset in the evening. The beach is not spoiled with tourism, out of respect for the battle and losses. So do not expect loads of restaurants, bars and touristic gadgets. It is kept basic and therefore it is beautiful. There are a lot of touring guides who can tell you about D-Day.
