Great local store with hand made pizza and nachos, bait, a bar and convenience store. Loads of fun and great people. Note: the full order of Nachos is HUGE!!!! It's called the Long Pine because it's halfway between Pine River and Longville

Longville is a little town of nearly 200 that has a great artist shop, coffee shop, restaurants and weekly Turtle races ( Wednesday). One of my favorite little towns! Also has an excellent thrift store called Tossed and Found

If you're in for a party town, Cross Lake is the one for you. It has lots of bars and restaurants, festivals and a little downtown. Located on the Whitefish chain just know that Staruday night at restaurant/bar Moonlight Bay is a happening place often with entertainment

OK-- NIssaw has the most shopping and tourist activities in the area. Great restaurants and bars, a local brewery, shopping and a Pioneer Village that the kids love. Always lots going on in Nissaw.

Brainerd has Costco, Walmart, Target, and lots of other shopping PLUS a zip line and access to the Paul Bunyan Trail. You can find whatever you want in Brainerd, a 35 minute drive from the cabins.If you're into antiques and re-purposed furniture, Design Consign is a great store.

The Paul Bunyan Trail is a 130 miles bike/walking trail. You can access it in Backus, Pine River, Nissaw, Pequot, Jenkins. Bike rentals in NIssaw. The trail from NIssaw to Merrifield is one of owner's favorites passing woods and lakes and ending at at resort stop for water, ice cream soda, or snacks. About 15 miles round trip.
