Sightseeing

A nice semi-easy hike to this delightful waterfall. You can even walk around the waterfall and into the cave where many people have put their handprint. There is a trail leading to an overlook of the River. Very Peaceful and Special Place

From July to November, take Everitt Memorial Drive up to the top of Mt Shasta. Before July, you can usually drive to Bunny Flats which is 6,900 feet, then after July 10th, the next gate past Bunny Flat is usually open to drive to the top which is around 8,000 feet. You can park and hike up as far as you want.

This is an must see. A place of untouched beauty and Spring Flowers all year long. Panther Meadows can be found, on Everitt Memorial Drive, past Bunny Flats. There is camping there, but the highlight is the walk through the meadow to a natural springs bubbling from the ground. This area is very sacred to the local Native Americans.

The name of this place I have always known it by is Fowler Falls. There are 3 falls, all of which are visible either by driving or walking the trails. If you are brave enough, the Middle Falls has a place where you can take an icy dip. The water is pure Mt Shasta Water and some believe it has healing properties. Beautiful just to look at and refreshing to swim in. These falls are a must see.

Well my way to the falls is not the traditional way. There is access in Dunsmuir on Scarlet Drive and down the Railroad Tracks, but during the summer it's hard to find parking. So I go the "Road less traveled" or should I say "River Less Traveled". What you will need are shorts, water Shoes, waterproof bag, and a Walking stick. So first go to Hedge Falls in Dunsmuir, which is easy to find, and wonderful too. Go behind the waterfall and stay on the trail that goes down to the River. You will have to navigate through a little obstacle course over the rocks and creek. Once you get to the river make sure your phone and valuables are secure and in a waterproof container. Even though the River is only up to your knees you may slip on the rocks. Try to step between the rocks in the river as they are very large and slippery. That's when you will appreciate your walking stick or better yet, 2 sticks. Cross the River Heading for a large Pipe. Scramble up the hill and take a right following the rail road tracks. Of course keep a wary eye out for trains. Once your have gone about 1/2 Mile you will see a Train Bridge and Trellis, DO NOT CROSS! go to your right and there is Mossbrae Falls. You will find it was worth the Trek. Enjoy.

Food scene

Great Little Home Town Diner. The Hi-Lo Cafe in Weed. The staff is friendly and the food is tasty. Some of my friends come down from Oregon to eat here. Always a fun experience.

This is the very first Black Bear Diner. They all started here. I've been to Other Black Bear Restaurants, but I feel this one is the best. Food is great if your like home cookin" and the service has always been friendly. Oh and an FYI, the Chocolate Shakes are the Bomb!
