This is hands down the best place to get a view of Astoria, the Columbia River, the Astoria Bridge, Young's Bay and everything in between, all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The views are stunning even from the parking lot. $5 parking fee. Keep your card and use again or leave for the next guest. Gift shop offers balsa wood planes and lovely gifts to take home to the pet sitter.

It's a farmer's market, artists market and maker's market. Find handmade clothing, cool cigar box guitars, soap, vegetables, food and drink. Enjoy Sunday in Astoria when main street is closed and everyone is out having a good time.

The other side of that beautiful bridge is Washington State - not Canada. Cross the bridge and feel the energy of the Columbia River beneath you. Visit sites on the Lewis and Clark trail, Fort Columbia, or Cape Disappointment with two lighthouses! The Long Beach Peninsula is old-school summer beach fun with kite festival and more. Just remember to come back and hang out in Astoria when you're done!

Under the Astoria bridge, along the River Walk sits a contemplative Park. Quiet and away from all the downtown noise. Interesting photo opportunity from below our magnificent bridge. Mini beach to the east.

The beach at Astoria might be the smallest beach in the world, but what a location! Next to the Maritime Memorial Park and beneath the bridge, this little beach can be accessed from the River Walk. It is also directly behind the Holiday Inn Express.

Columbia River Maritime Museum (CRMM) is one of the best maritime museums ever. Lots of fishing gear, boats, coast guard rescue displays, shipwreck stories, and movies. Also, the last Lightship Columbia, sits docked outside, waiting for you to climb aboard for a tour. Learn why a Lightship was needed at the mouth of the Columbia River. Also, a very nice gift shop.

Oh my. Well, it is an inexpensive movie theater in downtown. It is dry and there are theater seats and tables and food. If you are an adult, you can sit upstairs and order beer or wine. It's fun and has that small town vibe. Just do it. The theater just changed hands - we are excited to see the changes.

Great trail in the woods from Irving to the Astoria Column, or just to the Cathedral tree if you prefer. Steep but doable even with kids in dry weather. NOT recommended during rainy weather as the the path is slippery when wet.

Museum, fort, and walking trails. The trails are easy to moderate, great for families. You might see candle-making or other long-lost crafts being demonstrated at the fort. The indoor space is a haven for parents with children if the rain starts. Children can watch movies, try on pioneer clothing, touch animal pelts, and see how people used to live. Children can join National Park Junior Ranger Program.

The Astoria Riverwalk is a 6.4 mile paved walk along Astoria's waterfront from the Port of Astoria at the west end to the Alderbrook neighborhood to the east. You can pick it up at any point in between from piers and surface streets at the waterfront. It is popular with walkers, joggers, and cyclists. A great place to watch ship traffic, pilot boats, sea lions, people, and the weather. It is lit at night and there are informational plaques.
