Good food, generous portions, chef owned and operated with lots of history; The name “Back Behind Saloon Restaurant” was selected since the building was not visible from any road when opened in 1974, the caboose, a dining area favorite was built over 100 years ago, the unique fireplace was made with collected stones including fossils and petrified wood, the brightly colored jukebox is an authentic 1946 post war model 1015 from Wurlitzer Music Machine Company, and the magnificent stained glass bar back was rescued from an old ice cream soda fountain shop.

Tourist favorite! Beer & tavern food located on the banks of the Ottauquechee River. The brewery and brew pub offers a seasonally rotating menu featuring locally-sourced ingredients and beer fresh from the source. They have more than a dozen beers on tap including our year-round staples, seasonal selections and limited releases. They feature super-limited, small batch brews from their Farmhouse Ales series exclusively available in the pub. Note: Bustling place, depending on the season there can be a long wait for a table. They serve dinner but only if you are in the door prior to 7:00 pm. Doesn’t make my favorite list because of the limited wine options! (Can be gotten to via snowmobile if you are in the know)
