Rated number one on various rating services. Wonderful breakfast every day, starting at 8. Usually quiet. Ask to go to their "Overlook." It's stunning.

Good Mediterranean food. A lot of locals don't know about this place. It's almost hidden but right down town. Fried cheese is a personal favorite. Not quiet.

Award-Winning artisan cheeses made right here in Waco. Ask to see the "Cheese Cave" where the aging happens. Very interesting.

Parks & Nature

Cameron Park and its zoo is incredible for a central Texas town. Huge, dense bamboo. Hiking and biking trails, frisbee football (I know it's called something else . . . ), and a just-the-right-size zoo.

Shopping

If you're tired of finding the same shops and the same gifts, you'll love Homestead. It's not cheap, but it's all hand made heirloom stuff.
