Recently opened, fantastic little wine bar with a house speciality of white port and tonic. How did we never discover this drink before! Expect great service and real quality as owner operator, Hélio has a wealth of F&B experience including the famed Savoy hotel in London. A real Whitstable gem

Fantastic location on the beach and entrance to the harbour. Great for lunch or dinner, half lobsters are a favourite with a Kent beer or Kent Chapel Down wines and champagne. No bookings possible but open all day so best avoid the popular times to avoid a queue. Lovely in the summer on an outside table or around the fire in the winter.

Great atmosphere and very Whitstable. Our favourite for getting family and friends together on Christmas Eve. Food can range depending on chef but generally good and of course the Oysters are fantastic! Great range of beers and fair range of wines with a great bar on the ground floor for a quick freshener during the day or a snug bar upstairs for a Salted Carmel Martini after dinner. There’s also an interesting shop and cafe above the restaurant open at the the weekends only.

City advice

Going for a swim

Whitstable has three beach areas. Tides make a huge difference in whether you can take a dip as the low tides can take the sea way out. Tankerton slopes accessed along the sea front from the Continental Hotel is least effected by the tide so good for a swim most of the day. East beach in between the Continental Hotel and the Lobster shack is great for water sports with paddle boards and kayaks for hire as it has no beach groins and not tide impacted too much. West beach at the end of Nelson Rd near Windy Corner Stores is tide dependent but great for a swim and the closest to Ivanhoe House
