Sightseeing

A must see in Perth. Beautiful View and gardens. Two good playgrounds for children however they are not at the main entrance so only really suitable if you have a car or up for a big walk. You can catch the 37 bus direct to Kings Park (leaves at the corner of Kooyong Road and Great Eastern Highway) or any bus to the city and hop on a green cat bus.

At the end of Hammersley road in North Beach is my favourite beach in Perth. A cliff to the roadside means it is protected from a lot of the wind and a reef nearby in the ocean protects the beach from stong currents, choppy waves and provides lots of fish and stingrays to swim with. The water is crystal clear and the sand is white. On the downside it is a small beach and the water is only around 1.4 metres deep before the reef starts. It is very popular for small children. There is also a really tiny beach right next to it surrounded by small cliff faces which you can sometimes get all to yourselves for some innocent romance.

A large beach, nice waters. It can have some strong currents so not so suited for people who can not swim. Trigg has the best surfing in Perth when conditions are right.

Recently redeveloped with some nice restaurants on the water. The beach is nice enough. The water can be a little choppy. It is the closest beach to the apartment.

This is Perth's only clothing optional beach if removing those tan lines is what you are looking for then this is the only public place to do it. You have to walk 200 metres or so North of where you can park. There should be a sign.

The most famous beach in Perth. I like it because you can sit on the grass in the shade and look over the ocean. Lots of oceanfront restuarants and a couple of bars. The bars are popular for a Sunday session (after 4pm Sundays). The beach is suitable for young and old.

It isn't the best beach however it is only a short walk from the centre of Fremantle. It is quite protected so suitable for young children. An easy day trip to explore Fremantle and then go for a swim at Bathers Beach. It is also pretty easy to reach by public transport however allow time.

The water is a lovely colour, the sand is white, the beachfront restuarants here are the most affordable. The biggest downside is that it also overlooks the Kwinana Refinery's and it is a decent drive away.

A bit of a drive away however it is a beautiful area. Calm waters, suitable for young and old. It can get a bit of seaweed. It is not crowded here so good if you like to relax at the beach.

My favourite spot for fishing in Perth. If you really want to catch some fish in Perth you need a boat, but this is the next best option. A great place to visit for a picnic with the family. The beach is nice but certainly not the nicest in Perth.

If you love the beach, have the time and money visiting Rottnest is a must. It is a 30 minute ferry from Fremantle. You can visit the island as a daytrip however you will experience more by staying overnight. Beautiful beaches and great snorkelling. Little Salmon Bay is my favourite beach there to snorkel. You can get around the island by either Bike or bus. There are no cars. If you are only going for a daytrip and you aren't that fit then I recommend just catching the bus. If you are pretty fit you should be able to manage seeing most of the island in a day by bike. Visiting Rottnest can be a bit expensive. Try going on a Tuesday when the Ferry can be cheaper.

A 5 minute ferry ride off Shoalwater. A beautiful small island with turquoise waters. Has it's name from the 1,500 penguins living on the island however don't expect to see any unless you visit the discovery centre. You can also catch a boat fairly cheaply to see some seals and dolphins. Alternatively you can hire a kayak and Kayak over from Shoalwater to Seal island and Penguin Island.
