Sightseeing

You can walk, drive or cycle to Dores beach at Loch Ness (4 miles away). It’s an easy cycle along the new cycle path. The quickest way onto the cycle path is to turn right along the track beside the swings, and then turn right beside our neighbour’s workshop (Makar). This track will take you up to the Dores road where you can turn left onto the cycle path. Dores beach is good for walk/paddle and has nice pub for lunches/coffee/ice cream. See http://www.thedoresinn.co.uk/ If you would like to go there for a meal it is best to book in advance, particularly in the summer as it can get very busy. Telephone: 01463 751203. A shuttle bus runs from the Dores Inn to Inverness, ask them to drop you at the “Makar” track end, which is just through the woods, or at the Torbreck road end.

Great local spot on the Black Isle. Dolphins at Chanonry Point can be seen at anytime (and not at all!) but the best time to see them is usually on a rising tide. From around 1 hour after low tide, the tide turns and dolphins start to chase fish in.

Walk/cycle and tea room

Great place for a local walk. The falls are particularly impressive after heavy rainfall. Combine with a visit to Cameron's Tea Room. Cycle (round route is 38 miles) is to the Falls of Foyers http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochness/Fallsoffoyers.shtml this can be combined with woodland walks at Inverfarigaig http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochness/Inverfarigaig.shtml
