From Piazza S. Lorenzo to Via dell'Ariento, all around the Basilica of San Lorenzo (in the very historical center of the city) you can find what may be the most important market of the city. Just walk around searching for clothing, articles in leather, souvenirs, etc he first floor above the food market: imagine a fancy food court, combining tasting stands, shops and a cooking school. 3000 square meters with 500 seats (including a bank & fiorentina shop) and different food stands open seven days a week. Bright and new with all sorts of stands featuring Italy’s favorites: mozzarella di bufala, pizza from the south, a Chianti wine tasting corner, gelato & chocolate stand....

Parks & Nature

Piazza de' Pitti Formerly the park of the royal palace, it is a unique garden. See the size of it in the map, and spend some hours in its beauty. A vast green lush Italian Renaissance garden delight just 10 steps from your front door! Windy foresty paths make you feel like you are in backcountry, until you turn the corner and find an arbor's shady living tree arches to walk under, and then walk out onto a manicured pathway open to the sky lined with symmetrical cypress trees swaying overhead between classical marble sculptures. Be sure to go up to the porcelain museum for one of the most characteristic, poetic views of Tuscan sloping hills dotted with umbrella pine and medieval tower silhoue

Elegant perfume and beauty products top the gift wish list for many, at any time of the year. The Officina hosts frescoes, furnishings and ancient implements of the pharmacist’s trade. It was established by Dominican monks in 1221, by cultivating medicinal herbs in their garden, the friars’ original intent was to provide medications for their convent’s infirmary. The pharmacy came into prominence in the early 16th century thanks to Catherine de Medici. To commemorate her marriage at age 14 to Henry II, the future king of France, the monks of Santa Maria Novella created a special perfume named Acqua Della Regina (Water of the Queen)
