The Lakes area is a must. It is a geological wonder packed with great walks and views. The kids will have a ball at the huge park down at the Valley Lake.
For other wonderful sinkholes try the Cave Gardens in the centre of town, or the Umpherstone sinkhole just along the main highway.
The shopping is also great in town and the Main Street is full of a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
At the end of Henty Street (turn right out of the cottage and cross Sturt Street) is the wonderful railway lands walk, which is a historical trail through the old Mount Gambier town.
