Sightseeing

Nelson is a picturesque township just over the Victorian border. Once restrictions lift is is a perfect day trip from Mount Gambier. With a jaw dropping river, boat and kayak hire, two pristine beaches and a huge National park it is a Mecca for fishing and camping/bushwalking.

A stunning coastline to rival the Great Ocean Road. Great family destination with parks, cheap eateries and safe beaches.

The Lakes area is a must. It is a geological wonder packed with great walks and views. The kids will have a ball at the huge park down at the Valley Lake. For other wonderful sinkholes try the Cave Gardens in the centre of town, or the Umpherstone sinkhole just along the main highway. The shopping is also great in town and the Main Street is full of a wide variety of shops and restaurants. At the end of Henty Street (turn right out of the cottage and cross Sturt Street) is the wonderful railway lands walk, which is a historical trail through the old Mount Gambier town.
