As a local resident of Katy, TX, we find ourselves visiting Galveston frequently. It's a perfect day trip for us. It's kind of become a tradition for our family that everytime we go, we have to just walk The Strand where you can enjoy your beverage of choice while doing some shopping and site seeing.

There are plenty of sightings of celebrities at The Galleria Mall. Especially when there are special events in town. The Galleria is our largest and most high-end indoor shopping mall full of designer stores. There are plenty of food options there ranging from food court/sit down restaurants around a large indoor skating rink to fine dining, all within a mile radius of Uptown Park

THE BEST fried rice in town. This Latin flavored seafood restaurant is budget friendly and has some of the best Micheladas we've had. We eat at Mambos about once a month. It's also less than 2 miles from the house.
