A great time to go in on weekends for late lunch (2 or so) when lots of locals are there with large families. Be sure to try the pescado frito..you'll get to pick the one you want them to fry! The seafood rellenos are great, too. Super friendly staff.

Shopping
There are numerous places to shop for food and supplies in Chelem.
The main market is in the Center square about 1 KM from the house. There are several tortillerias, tienditas (small, locally owned stores) on many corners. There is a Maxi Carne, two Oxxos, a Willy's and a Donasusa, too.
Be sure to walk around the center square to explore the shops. On Saturdays and Sundays, you will also find a flower and plant vendor.
Need to pick up snacks, sodas, wine, beer or other staples during your stay? This shop is just a two block walk on Calle 15. Very nice staff, too.

Domingo en Merida is a must. One of the Paeso Montejo is closed for bicycling and walking. There is a market in the main square and entertainment all day long.
