Essentials

We have two Co-ops close by, a smaller corner shop - on the corner! Or a bit further is a bigger version. Fuel available at Sainsbury's or BP just around the corner. Post office, pharmacies, banks, takeaways, restaurants, pubs, cycle hire, dry cleaners, all within walking distance, say half a mile.
This is your closest food store - all the essentials plus a bit more.

Food Scene

There are pubs serving food, restaurants of every description, cocktail bars, coffee shops - all within walking distance in either the Mill Road area or Cherry Hinton Road area. (we're roughly in the middle) Great places to recommend - Hot Numbers for coffee, Black Cat Cafe or Cafe Blue Sage for brunch. There are some fantastic fine dining places in Cambridge, Alimentum is walking distance, but others I can recommend are Varsity Restaurant (as oppose to Varsity Hotel where food not the best but the roof terrace views are!), The Rupert Brooke in Grantchester, or if you really want to splash out for a special occasion then it has to Midsummer House, or Number 22, or the refurbished University Arms Hotel, but advance booking needed. While things are getting up and running after lock down there is always Deliveroo or Uber Eats and can recommend Sticks'n'Sushi for an excellent Japanese meal. If you just want to walk to the top of the road there is The Dumpling Tree, (Chinese) it's new so not sure what it's like but it's very close!

Sightseeing

A must do for a sunny relaxing afternoon - do haggle the price! Great way to see all the colleges with their lawns and willow tree settings! You can do a chauffeur punt, group or do it yourself but it is quite hard!

Did you know the "Isle of Ely" used to be an actual island before the Fens were drained. The Cathedral is known as the "Ship of the Fens" as it's spire can be seen for miles. Lots of interesting and historic places here, associations with Oliver Cromwell, some nice eateries and a lovely riverside area with cafes etc. Great day out and only about 10 mins by train with reguaar departures.
