Free to get in. Curvy (at times scary!) road winds up the side of the mountain to get there. Beautiful park with walking paths, hiking up the mountain, waterfalls, and also tennis and disc golf. The movie "The River" was filmed here.

Parking is a bear to do at Bays, but well worth it if you like hiking, seeing animals in their natural habitat, riding a barge on the reservoir, and more. It cost $6.00/car to get in, with a few $$ to do some of the activities ($2-6.00). Walking around and seeing the animals is free. (I usually have a free pass - if you want to use it, just ask if I forget to tell you!)

Rogersville (15 miles) is the county seat of Hawkins County. It has shops, restaurants, and historical places to visit. It has the first post office, the second oldest courthouse and Davy Crockett's grandparents are buried there! It is the second oldest town in the state.

We are approximately an hour from Bristol Motor Speedway. The town itself has many restaurants and shops. It is considered the "Birthplace of Country Music." It is situated in two states VA and TN. State Street (Named appropriately) separates the two states.

Kingsport is about 20 minutes from us. It has many restaurants, a mall (but it is mostly empty right now with only a few named stores), the Greenbelt walking trail (very nice), mini golf, and other activities.
